Volunteer Community Tutor

Looking to make a meaningful impact with minimal time commitment? Enjoy teaching? Join SWO as a Volunteer Community Tutor! Just one hour a week on Zoom can make a difference in a student’s life. It’s low-stakes, flexible, and you can start or end your commitment at any time. Plus, all your hours are verified, and we provide reference letters to support your future endeavors. Whether you’re an experienced educator or simply passionate about helping others, this is a great way to contribute to your community while gaining valuable experience.

Definition of Equity in Hiring

Equity in hiring refers to the practice of providing fair and unbiased opportunities for all applicants in the hiring process, regardless of their background or identity. This includes ensuring that hiring decisions are based solely on merit, qualifications, and the ability to perform the job without favoritism or prejudice related to race, physical differences, culture, gender, sexual orientation, religion, class, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

  • Unconscious Bias Training: Provide training for all Human Resources Associates and Director(s) on recognizing and mitigating unconscious bias

  • Feedback and Transparency: Offer constructive feedback to candidates upon request and maintain transparency throughout the hiring process.

  • Complaint and Resolution Procedures: Establish clear procedures for reporting and addressing any concerns of discrimination or bias during the hiring process.
